Tandem Instructor

FIRST JUMP - 2007
What advice would you give to someone thinking about jumping for the first time?
Have fun, do your best and relax! In freefall, don’t forget to look around and not just straight down. Skydiving is amazing and I’ve yet to meet a student who regretted coming out for their first jump.

When he’s not in the air, he’s out exploring the Pacific Northwest — hiking, climbing, and chasing whatever the Cascades have to offer. Garrett is also trained as an EMT and working towards becoming a nurse. His advice for first-time jumpers is simple: have fun, trust the process, and remember to look around in free-fall, not just straight down. TAN-I, Coach
When you were a kid, were there any early activities that might indicate you’d one day become a skydiver?
I always wanted to be an astronaut as a kid and loved climbing things. It was no surprise to anyone that knows me that I ended up as a skydiver.
What was the circumstance that led you to the DZ for the first time to make your very first skydive?
I went with my mom and younger brother on a whim. It was an adventure none of us ever forgot.
What made you want to continue skydiving after your first jump?
I loved the camaraderie of the sport and the opportunity to do something different and exciting.
What’s the best / most memorable skydive you’ve ever made?
After becoming a tandem instructor I had the opportunity to take my parents and brother on jumps. It is such a treat to be able to share skydiving with friends, family and people I meet at the dropzone.
If you could jump with anyone in the world, who would you like to jump with and why?
I think I would choose my brother or a different family member who has never jumped before.
