FIRST JUMP - 2022
What advice would you give to someone thinking about jumping for the first time?
Relax, we've got you! Trust your instructor to take care of you and just enjoy the ride. When the door opens, let that be your cue to breathe slow and calm. Skydiving is just yoga in the sky! Just hold your arch pose and breathe.

When you were a kid, were there any early activities that might indicate you’d one day become a skydiver?
Not at all! I was a farm kid, raised as much by goats, cows, and horses as I was by my family. I thought I would be a zoologist “when I grew up.” When I took my first flight at 16, I fell in love with aviation and knew that I wanted flight to be a part of my journey in life.
What was the circumstance that led you to the DZ for the first time to make your very first skydive?
I was on a bikepacking trip riding across the UK. I was seven months into traveling abroad in Africa and Europe and was starting to run out of money. The job ad for Skydive Snohomish popped up in my inbox and I thought, “What better way to make some money over the summer than at a skydiving center in my home state?” Well, I fell in love with the sport over that summer and here I still am!
What made you want to continue skydiving after your first jump?
The low cost of entry. HA! Of course not. Like most skydivers, I love to fly, I love the sport, and I love being around people who feel that way too.
What’s the best / most memorable skydive you’ve ever made?
Just after I received my A-license, I did a skydive on one of those big puffy cloud days. I remember freefalling right next to a huge cloud stack, so close I could reach out and touch it. It felt like I was freefalling next to a skyscraper made out of miracle whip or cotton candy. My heart was so full and the child-like grins on everyone else’s faces after I landed told me they all felt the same. That awe and excitement is part of what makes this sport so special.
If you could jump with anyone in the world, who would you like to jump with and why?
I would like to jump with my dad. He says that he has no interest in “jumping out of a perfectly good airplane”, but I know he would enjoy it.
